Stirling is considered the original “gateway to the Highlands”, until the year 1934 Stirling bridge was the first road crossing when travelling from Edinburgh, and this area is steeped in history and scenic beauty.

Within a 10 mile radius of Stirling there are at least four different battle sites that were crucial to the history of Scotland.

The Wallace Monument celebrates one such battle “the Battle of Stirling Bridge” celebrated in Mel Gibson’s “Braveheart”.
